How do you know when someone's been suspended?

Just reading through Tenrec's smelly person on bus thread and saw the comments about one poster's suspension. How do you know when that's happened apart from the fact that they don't contribute any more comments. Also, what happens? Does the suspension last for a period of time or just for that thread?

Click on their Avatar, it tells you if they are active or suspended!

If you click on their avatar, it tells you if they are active or suspended. A suspension can last as long as the Ed wants it to - or he can turn it into a ban if it's really bad.

Tilly I didn't know they had been suspended. But when you look at their profile it says suspended.

it lasts as long as the Ed wants it to last. Maybe for ever (I think he sometimes suspends for ever rather than banning them so that their posts will stay on the site but the poster will not). Sometimes people are just being given half an hour in clink to calm down before being rereleased into the community.

If they don't come back, it's often worth checking their status

You can also put their name directly into the address bar thing at the top of the screen - click on any member and replace their name with the one you want to look at.
