I know this should be in Media but not much activity there.
Not much said about their "Wives" really and where they fit into the equation.
Are they still married? Can they divorce? What is in it for them? The two men/women still lived with their wives. I can not get my head round this.

It was a tv prog at 10.35 on itv1 tonight....about 2 men undergoing sex
changes and the impact on their lives, families and wives.

I did'nt watch it though.
They are still married - a sex change does not void or nullify a marriage, although it would be 'reasonable grounds' for a divorce if the wife wanted one.

Sorry Star. Programme on ITV tonight, My Dad Is a Woman. About 2 different men who ate married and have children who are transgendered (is that the correct term) decide they want to become a woman. They take the hormone drugs, dress as women and wait to see if they can have the op after lots of interviews and pschycology assessments. Don't get me wrong I feel sympathy for any one in this kind of state but I was concerned about the other aspect of it from their wives point of view.
Caran. I saw most of that. I can only imagine it takes a very strong relationship to survive all the anguish. Don`t know if I could have stayed in the marriage.
Things ive seen before, the women just stay married to them....and they live as normal....they accept them.

Unless mabye the man has a full sex change, and gets his bits done...not sure!

Sure they could divorce with irreconcilable differences i suppose!?

If the women love them unconditionally i suppose.

Im all for everyone being who they want to be but i personally would find it difficult to live with a man who was now living as a woman i think .....live with as in be married to and share a bed xxxx

One of the men had the full op ad the other one had been accepted for it.
Their wives seemed really happy for them, I don't think I could have been so generous in my feelings, or is it you have to experience it first to know how you would cope. I knw I felt full of admiration for them and their children who coped so well. One had a teenage daughter, she still sent him a fathers day card, she tried to call him Jane but struggled. The other family had young children who did not realise what was going on .
Thanks for the explanation caran. How awful - what a mix-up. I might have accepted what the men wanted to do but I am pretty sure I could not go on living with them. But I suppose that is because I like men to be men.
