I am helping an old man with his music. He wants to have some of the music on his kindle and smart phone but when I try and transfer it using the kindle and smartphone programs it says it wont work as they are in the wrong format. So I tried to convert the music into MP3 but it then says the WMP music is protected as it came off the CD! I cant get anywhere with this and dont want him to have to put all his CDs on the laptop again in the right format! Please help!

How to Put Music on a Kindle:

1
Attach the Kindle to the computer using the specialized USB cable that Amazon provided. This will establish a physical connection between the two devices.

2
Click "Start" on your computer and navigate to "My Computer." Your Kindle should be listed in that window. If it is not, use the drop down menu at the top of the window and try to find it in that list. Click on the icon representing your Kindle to get into your Kindle files.

3
Click on the "music" folder out of the three file folders listed in your Kindle files. This opens the music folder so that you can transfer music easily onto your Kindle. If the music folder does not exist, create it.

4
Navigate to your personal music folder in another window. Choose the songs you would like to add to your Kindle. Check that they are MP3 format and convert if they are not. Any other format will not play.

5
Right click and copy the file that you want to transfer. Then right click and paste it in your Kindle's music folder. Continue this until you have added all the songs you want for background music.

6
Eject your Kindle safely so the files do not become corrupted. Right click on the eject icon at the bottom of your screen and click "Safely Remove Hardware" to complete this task.

As for the smart phone should be the same, i.e connect smartphone to PC using supplied USB cable, but check with smartphone website for correct transfer details.
