When our toilet flushes the water only flushes at the rear of the bowl and doesn't flush around the sides and front. Is this something that can be fixed our do we need a new toilet?

how old is it ? what type of cistern ? could it just be serious lime scale under the rim ?

I'll check. It would be old enough, as in probably 10-15 years I would think or maybe more. Think it is Armitage Shanks but will check after.
It sounds live lime scale build up - especially if you live in the south of England

It's a twifords make. But to be honest I know nothing about toilets or how they should work. I probably should look up some stuff on google. We sprayed parazone around it but it made no difference and I felt in the rim and it felt like there was plenty of room for water to flow towards the front of the bowl.
Is the cistern refilling right up to the mark after every flush? In other words, is there enough water in the cistern to give a full-strength flush?

Yeah, the cistern is filling up fully. I felt in around where the pipe enters into the bowl. There seems to be three holes in the pipe. One at the end of the pipe and then two more at the top of the pipe at 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock. Is this right?
