Thanks for your answer Quinie, but im no nearer to getting the answer. All i kept thinking of today is bluebell, but i dont think thats the answer that im after? I cant think what else it would be beginning with blue.
Maybe im just having a senior moment! lol
It doesn't begin with blue but you've got the correct colour. Mix these letters with a note (one letter). The answer is also the name of a musical instrument. Not a very well-known flower,Georgiesmum.Hope this helps and doesn't bug you too much-another clue there!

Georgiesmum...there are only 7 possible notes...A, B, C, D, E, F, G... to add to BLUE to get a flower and an instrument

Thanks for your help quinie. I think ive got it now. the other name for it is ajuga,. I used to have a lot of those in the garden. thank you for your help.
