has anyone made this? how much butter did you use for the sauce?

i made it for first time the other day and the recipe (for sauce) said 500gr butter, 1 cup water and 400gr tomato puree blah blah blah... i made it this way but thought it was a lot of butter...... afterwards i googled and found loads of recipes where the quantities for chicken, spices, tom puree, cream etc were all the same but the butter varied from 500gr to 3 tbsp!

I once cooked Madhur Jaffries recipe and to feed 4-6 it uses 110g unsalted butter.

It's not a dish I particularly enjoy, the friend I cooked it for thought it was a good recipe.

thanks eccles... i think my recipe said 7-8 people but there was only 2 of us so i halved everything....as i was cooking it i thought it would be really sickly but i was surprised that it wasnt (and i forgot to halve the cream)

i guess its one of those that you have to experiment with and find your own taste....
This is the recipe I use pdust and it only uses 80g butter for 4 servings.
