It was just beautiful - red, gold, yellow; the sun a blinding crimson orb. The sky is still golden yellow at the horizon; the sea like a millpond. Mountains smokey grey, harbour lights twinkling and lighthouse flashing in the distance.
It's at times like this that I can forget the howling winter gales.
Summer is the period from the sujmmer solstice (in a week or so) until the autumnal equinox - the thermal capacity of land and sea means that the warmest weather doesn't occur until a few weeks time.
