Got up to see the torch going through my town today. Got there in plenty of time, we live at the very start of the town, so not too many people where we were. Saw the police, the music bus, coke bus and a couple of coaches, we all thought that was it, about to leave very disappointed. Till saw it all stop further up the road. Ran up, got a great view of the torch being lit.
Silly us thought it was on the road the whole time, didn't think it goes in a car in between towns. oops

mmmmm must admit i never thought how it got from town to town!!!! imagined it on the road the whole time too :-/
i object to seeing celebs, and captains of industry carrying it anywhere, shouldn't it have been the unsung heroes, and those who have actual input into the Games.
Don't 'celebs, and captains of industry' contribute to our society as well em?

Often with an above average impact

If we were just a collection of 'unsung heroes' it might be very dull
it was supposed to be for the people, those who have actually done something, some of those carrying the torch are to do with the sponsors, and why on earth was Drogba and Will-i-am involved. It's way too commercial. Why should it be dull if those who have served their community be the ones who carry it.
I feel that way too em, It'll be a the bottom of my road in July and I don't think I'll bother bother to go along, if I see the likes of Jedward carrying it, I'll scream.
Double bother, lol!
double bother indeed. x
Torch arrived in Dundee today - did think about going to Baxter Park to see it but doubt if I would have got parked and it's baltic out. Contented myself with watching it on BBC Scotland.
I saw it when I was away a couple of weeks ago and it was very impressive. Not a celebrity in site. I think there have only be a handful of celebs in a couple of major towns just to keep the national media interested.

Even though we were visitors we felt very much part of the community and witnessed the local teacher and local minister both carrying the torch and cheered on by everyone around them.

If it comes to you, go out and watch and try to position yourself near a "kiss" where one torch bearer takes over from another.
maidup, as we are in the capital chances of getting anywhere near may well be very slim.
Here's the London route em

1. The first torchbearer of the day will begin at the Camden Roundhouse. Following this, the flame will be carried by barge along Regent’s Canal and be at a community event at Granary Square.

2. The flame will visit the giant Olympic rings in the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International.

3. In the City of London, it will be carried to St Paul’s Cathedral, the Museum of London and Guildhall.

4. The flame will be carried across the Millennium Bridge into Southwark, where it will visit Shakespeare’s Globe.

5. It will then pass by the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners, and receive a choral fanfare at Opera Holland Park.

6. The flame will be carried to the site of the 1908 Olympic Stadium in White City.

7. In Westminster it will be carried through Trafalgar Square and into Downing Street.

8. Before arriving in Hyde Park, the flame will visit Buckingham Palace.

9. At the end of the day there will be an Olympic Torch Relay Finale concert in Hyde Park. The event will be headlined by rapper Dizzee Rascal. Towards the end of the eight-hour show, the last torchbearer of the day will light a celebration cauldron on stage, enabling the flame to be seen by the audience.
^^ That's just central London. The other days are all shown here
