OK, I have finally found the car I am after! Vauxhall Astra Design Estate 1.6 in Grey, 16,700 miles, Registered May '07, on web for 7,900.

Any suggestions/tips on how I can haggle? I have all of the cash, ready. I want Cruise Control fitting, some tax and some petrol in the car and ideally want this trhown in somehow if they will do it.

Thinking I may go down after work today, so any tips greatly appreciated!!

ALSO, I have been advised to wait until the end of the month or even next month (change of number plates) as I may save money that way. Is this still true or an older thing (it is my Dad who advised me on this!)

one thing to remember , cash isnt always an incentive as they earn commission on finance packages, sometimes more than the profit in the car
Might be better off checking the t&cs of the finance - if it allows you cancel the finance within a very short period (a week or two) by paying it in full without penalty, you may be better haggling to buy it cheaper on finance.

Then pay it in full before you pay interest.
Been down this Haggle road many times with friends & people, First do not bother with their finace, 2nd, you have the cash& that is what they are after + getting rid of a motor, 3rd, yes they are on commision, do not mention money untill you have got what you want, If you cannot get what you want EASY walk away do not be pushed to bye a car do your homework there are a lot on the forecourts and they all want you trade if you back down you will regret it.
Ive just found the same car on availablecar.com and they want 7499 for a 57 plate with less than 12,000 on the clock so I think you need to have another look around....
