Well it seems that The Muslim Brotherhood have won the Egyptian election, what will this mean for Egypt and the rest of the Middle East?

i cannot believe that anyone would think that The Muslim Brotherhood are anything but bad for Egypt. As Brenden says time will tell.

nomi, my thoughts exactly. And they are not the only ones, we talk of democracy and freedom, but these factions do not think the way we do.
And they have indeed gone from the frying pan, and I wonder who will be next.

this debate was put forward months ago on AB, and that some, myself included indicated that the Arab Spring won't be anywhere near the much hoped for free elections, and new dawn that many believed. These countries have inter rivalries, tribal mentality, and still, in regards to women a backward perception of their roles. The election that has taken place in Egypt was essentially a retrograde step, and i fear for the people who truthfully want freedom, democracy, that they will be the ones who will be sadly disappointed, and end up getting into a state, situation that will stamp it's boot on them. Watch this space.

They have had over 30 years of a dictator and have free elections and that is a retrograde step? That could only be written by someone who has no idea what living in fear of a tyrant and his secret police is like.

We are all suddenly experts on Egyptian politics, not to mention clairvoyant into the process?
Not being an expert myself I'm nonetheless glad that Egypt has had its freest ever election and am satisfied that the new President is the people's choice.

I don't think the Muslim Brotherhood are a violent, extremist organisation as a matter of fact, but only time will tell if the new President fulfils his promises and is successful.

Not my words, the Brotherhoods:-The introduction of Shar'ia to control the state and society, Unify the Islamic countries and states (A Caliphate) liberating them from foreign imperialism, the capital of which will be Jerusalem, (Safwat Hijazi 2 weeks ago at a Brotherhood rally in which Mr. Morsi was sitting on stage nodding his head) Hope they do not retract the Eyptian/Israeli agreement as where will that leave Israel.) I will as I said wait and see.
