Sky Box and HD box
5 Answers
Can someone help me here. I have a sky hd box, and a sony hdd receiver and recorder connected to my TV. They are connected in such a way that I watch sky on the hdmi input on the TV and anything on the HDD box on the AV2 input. They are also connected to allow me to record programmes from the sky box onto the hdd box. Something has gone badly wrong however. We recently lost our sky reception due to scaffolding and couldn't receive any tv at all on the one connected to the boxes. Don't know why so we brought in another tv, just disconnected the ariel and connected it to the new tv. I was sure all the wires had gone back where they should be but I cannot now receive or record anything onto the HDD box. Sky is fine, and recording from the sky box to the HDD box is also fine. There are so many wires behind the tv it is like knitting and don't know where to start.

I have had a look at this link, It appears to be quite easy but as it doesn't list a second tv receiver and how to connect that, it doesn't appear to address the problem I have which is receive tv programmes, and be able to record them on both a sky box and a hdd box as well. A dvd recorder which it does list doesn't received tv programmes. Unless I am missing something important.
I appear to have this sorted out now. Evidently, although I did not realise it, the input for recording from the sky box to the hdd box does not allow for showing the programme guide - I have no idea why and don't care to know, the input on the hdd box to use it for receiving freeview is different. I had been transferring from sky to hdd and hadn't realised that to show the programme guide I had to change the input. It's all too complicated to understand but as it now appears to be working, that's OK.
