Is it true - are they edible?

Whilst eating my dinner last night a thought wandered across my tiny little brain.

"Why do people consider green beans to be a 'food' and actually think that they are edible. The are like Calamari in that they are made of some industrial by-product and are totally inedible.

I had to sit and pick out these beans from my Wiltshire Farm Foods ready meal - the other veggies were nice and tasty, but not the green intruders.

How could people possibly enjoy eating them?

Can't stand them, especially woody stringy ones. Yeuch!

I'm with Sunny Dave, butter beans are awful. Love green beans broad beans and bobby beans. Love calamari.

No 1 Son loves green beans, he throws them round the kitchen :-)

She looks like a small highland cow and is quite curvy. She came to live with me with the name of Merlin - not exactly feminine. She I decided that she should be a princess.

She is long haired, her face is all black and her undercarriage has bits of white - she looks good. As you can see from my avatar Frankie is short haired and has more white on him. They were feral kittens. My babies!

My mum used to make butter beans - I have no idea how long she boiled them for or soaked them for but they were beautiful.

I like baked beans. Yummy!

Sorry kiki missed your post. Bobbie beans are slightly fatter small sized green beans, I do tend to get my beans mixed up a bit.

ayg - I think that she is just vicious as her brother and her were rescued at an early enough age and should be fully domesticated.

I suppose there are stupid an dangerous humans - why not cats. I love her to bits but you have to watch for signs of an impending attack. She is sitting behind me looking over my shoulder!

Ready to pounce wolf. lol. My sis in law had a beautiful chocolate box long haired cat but she was an absolute nightmare. We were at her house at a party her brother went to the loo and paused the cat with his foot as it was sitting outside the loo door. On his way out the cat attacked his leg and wouldn't let go.I went visiting and lit a cigarette, the cat sat next to me breathing in the smoke enjoying it, about half an hour after I'd put it out the cat pawed at my bag to get the cigs out again!

Smoking would be a no-go as Frankie is asthmatic. It is amazing how an animal about 1/20th if our size is capable of bullying us both physically and psychologically.

They have their ways of getting round you. Boxy I used to have a Siamese who loved Chinese food, and curry. He would perch alongside me and guide my forkful of food with his paw into his mouth. I usually ended up giving him a saucer of my food for himself.

Normally I would say that cats are not stupid - but what about Merlin?

Rover has a habit of nicking things of my plate - he wasn't very impressed when he nicked some cauliflower :-)

I reckon Princess Merlin knows her place in the home, I bet she can stick up for herself if she had to.
