Am I the only person in the country to be 100% hacked off at hearing the word "OLYMPICS" in just about every sentence uttered by broadcasters - and even people in the street? I may be called a kill-joy, but I will endeavour to switch my TV to ANY programme that has nothing to do with this waste of money and resources. I have a huge stock of films to watch during the next 16 days and I just cannot wait for the end of this farcical "event".

I am not a sports fan and will be watching very few of the events, not that I watch much telly anyway. A good book is more to my taste. I still hope that it all passes off successfully and Team GB does everyone proud. All cdredit to the athletes from all of the countries who have trained so long and hard to take part.

I suppose I will watch the odd event if I happen to be near a tv but I certainly can't see what the opening ceremony has got to do with sport - just get on with it and we could have saved all that money. I bet the Queen is well hacked off with having to attend all these ceremonies with dancers etc that have nothing to do with anything.

i have no interest in the sports themselves - but i applaud the efforts of everyone who has worked in the last seven years to make this happen, and i wish all involved the best.

however, i will watch the opening and closing ceremonies --- i like a good 'knees-up'

I said at the start of my post I would not be watching, because I am not interested, NOT because I have a downer on it, or I would not have wished team GB well.
And as to how not being interested equates to being miserable I don't know, as I struggle to find any parity between the words, but then I'm not a sports fan, so possibly there is a different level of understanding there.

I am looking forward to the actual sports action, but I am thoroughly cheesed off with the hype in every TV news programme.

I would be interested in knowing exactly how much TV time has been spent by the BBC showing people, in what looks like their pyjamas, each carrying the torch for 300mtrs for the last 70 days. When the torch visited the West Midlands almost the whole 30 minute "Midlands Today" bulletin was given up to the torch relay.

I think it's wonderful that we are having the Olympics but agree it must be annoying if you're not interested. However, as it's the first time we've hosted the event in 64 years I think it's not asking too much for people to put up with it................
