Sleeping before midnight...

I was having a discussion with my Gran about sleep. She was moaning at me because I don't get enough but I know if I go to my bed early it takes me even longer to go to sleep than if I went at my normal time!

Anyway.. My question.. My Gran said that people who sleep before midnight and get up earlier are healthier than people who go to bed later and lie in longer. I just don't understand how this can be true! Surely it's the amount of sleep and not when you sleep that counts?!

Any thoughts? x

How much sleep does a dead person get? Is it 24 hours as sometimes they call it The Big Sleep, don't they?

Well I might try for an early night, see how I get on! It won't feel right not posting a song on Mamya's thread! Lol!
We are all different with our sleep patterns, I think how we relax after work helps, I used to come home chill n watch t.v then a quick shower n 2 bed but lately have re discovered radox baths it's def the way forward for me.
sex before bed, sex before getting out of bed and you sleep far better
Hi ummmm - if the eldest didn't need to catch a bus it would be later!
well said DT hope u n erin sleep well lol x
unlike men sex before bed wakes me up.
I need my sleep to be at the beginning of the night rather than later on in the night. So bed usually by 10 (I know I'm late tonight) and up anytime after about 6ish. Goodnight all!

it is true - you should listen to your gran! loads of sleep studies have been done for a variety of reasons and they throw up the most interesting results. i'm screwed (apparently) because i do a 24hr shift pattern. it stands to reason if you never get your sleep sorted that it'll wear your body out more.
Hey Erin-x, I think the most intelligent for you to do is just to give it a shot. Try going to sleep at 9 PM for about a week and see if you feel you wake up with more energy and in a mental state of clarity. I've been told this before and actually have it a chance and I've been going to sleep at 9 every since. Its truely remarkable, I remember more dreams, I wake up feeling more productive etc.. Just give it a try./

I hate the idea of wasting a glorious morning lying in bed asleep, I get up at 6am every day, I feel better for it, but that does not necessarily mean that it is better, its just my preference.
Sex helps you sleep? I need to have a demonstration of that I am afraid or me to believe this. Any takers, ladies?
