Inflamed joints.
3 Answers
I'm only 21 but I'm getting inflamed joints from far to much cycling on my pushbike. My wrist is really bad, as is one of my knees. I know the simple solution is to simply stop cycling, but for financial reasons I can't.I take cod liver supplements and I wear a copper bracelet on my wrist to combat the twinges, but what else can I do?

The problem with knees is that they move repetitively through the same range of movement when you're on a bike, so changing the height of the saddle now and then will put them through a slightly different part of the range. Also watch what your feet are doing - if they're turned outwards, or if you're twisting your foot slightly as you pedal, that will also cause strain on your knees. Changing the height of the handlebars will alter the amount of weight taken on your wrists - the lower they are, the more weight falls onto them. You might also want to try the sort of handlebars that have a forearm rest and change from drop-type to straight or vice versa - in short, experiment first before you give up.
CP how much guitar are you playing?? IT could be carpal tunnel syndrome from excessive wear from this activity....though not the knees unless you have a very unusual style.......ask your doctors receptionist for the number of your local physio department and ask then to send you out a broucher of proper activities to warm up before BOTH cycling and guitaring.
