I am forever wiping away spiders webs from the windowsills outside but a couple of days later they are back again. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep them at bay. We have upvc windows sills. Thanks.

no..why not leave them..they're not doing any harm..they are everywhere, time of year.
No tips, but be grateful to them for keeping the number of flys down.
If you really want to get rid, try spraying around the area with fly spray. Also helps indoors in corners and wardrobes !
I read that conkers were great for getting rid of spiders - just waiting for autumn to go out and get a pile.
Ps the best cobweb brush is a new cheap toilet brush, the spikey bristles really shift them
We have loads of spiders here. In fact the house across the way from us is called 'Cobwebs'. Leave them alone.
Agree with other posts - just leave them alone. Why can't we just live in harmony with other creatures on our earth.
Yes, leave them, they'll break and disappear after a while anyway. Watch the spiders through the window when they catch something, it's fascinating.
I prefer to have less flies look at
I think spiders weave a web where they will catch prey...and maybe they are a bit territorial.
I'd say leave them also...they are doing good-and not harming you.
Spiders are rather dim creatures. My loft is full of dusty old cobwebs, many containing the dessicated remains of the spiders that made them, yet I've never come across any insects, ever. But to answer the question...

leave them alone, they won't hurt you.
How are spiders living outside a problem? Just let them have a little share of the world.
love spiders and am not at all houseproud when it comes to them living with me - great for the environment, bad for flies, mozzies, midges. Guess it's a personal thing but don't subscribe to this 'ultra clean, asceptic environment' we are urged to embrace. We are going to wreck our collective immune system soon.
