There is a symbol on the washing instructions saying do not dry clean but I'm sure I've had duvets dry cleaned before and you see lots of them in the dry cleaners having been cleaned what could be the reason for the do not dry clean label?

Because of the chemicals used in dry cleaning? Synthetic contents don't need dry cleaning, and it's sometimes difficult to get all the cleaning substances out of a thick quilt?

Thanks for your speedy reply box off to the launderette I go
We put ours in the big machines in the launderette, my tumble drier at home's not big enough.
Why would you not want it washed? Singles and summer weight doubles I wash myself the king size ones go to the launderette where they do it for me and I collect in a couple of days. Maybe the dry cleaners has this service too and that's why you see duvets there.
So what's wrong with doing it yourself in the bath (soak/wash/rinse/rinse/rinse) and just hanging it on the line until it dries in the sun & wind ?
Dry cleaners usually only have a normal size washing machine so don't do it on premises but they can send it away for you - some offer this service, some don't

Launderette for me all the way
Do you all also send feather/down quilts to be washed at the launderette?
Do you all also send feather/down quilts to be washed at the launderette?
