21st century Eastbourne

Once a quiet peaceful sea-side town, a town fit to retire to, but it might as well be a sink estate of any modern day city.

Here we see a single man attacked by a group of cowardly savage youngsters, products of today's society.

How can anyone say things were no better 60 years ago?

I was born and bred in Eastbourne in the 40's and yes it was a slow rich place for retired people, couldn't wait to kick off the dust and go to London when I was 22yrs. There was a decent nightclub called Kings where we had fun, but having gone back recently it is a not very nice area. Luckily my family are in the good end and not where the sewers used to be, where all the scousers moved too!. Still hoards of oaps there (and I am not one of them!)

1950s Eastbourne. John Bodkin Adams a local GP arrested on suspicion of murdering 160 of his patients. A very wealthy man with friends in high places, he was acquitted, but the trial was probably nobbled.

I too was born and raised in Eastbourne. I once heard it described as "the town of early nights and late husbands".
