Roy Orbison

Having watched Roy Orbison singing Pretty Woman on QOM and Nungates thread. Did anyone see RO at Nottingham, The Derngate Centre I think many years ago?
He did a different version of Pretty Woman. Almost a Jimi Hendrix version, it was so disappointing, so many people complained, we felt cheated.

I had to hunt high and low to get 'walk on' as it's Mrs.B's favourite and it wasn't on his greatest hits collection.

I'd never heard "The Comedians" 'til I watched "A Black and White night". Now, it's my favourite Roy Orbison song.

I loved Roy Orbison. His songs sent a thrill down my young spine. I have said this before, and I will say it again, that the thing which made Roy Orbison was a full orchestra backing him, much the same as Gene Pitney. Without the sweeping strings and mournful brass neither would have hit the heights that they did.

What a backing group for Black And White Night Tom Waits, The Boss, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Jennifer Warnes, to name a few off of the top of my head.
