Regardless of how long he held him, he never did any physical harm to the boy and the boy or his mother never made any complaint, so was it fair to ruin this man's life, surely a dressing down would have been enough?

You really don't get it, do you? The teaching unions no longer represent the interests of those hard-working teachers at the chalk face, but those of the muesli-munching ciabatta chompers.
