What age to get a kitten?
30 Answers
What's the acceptable age of a kitten to go to a new home these days? It always used to be 8 weeks and some years ago when I bred and showed pedigrees 12 weeks was the acceptable age to sell them on.

Our cat who is now 9 years old was 10 weeks when we picked him up. He came from Cats Protection. He chose us when we went to see the litter at 5 or 6 weeks old. We were told he couldn't leave his mother before 10 weeks and he also would be wormed and vaccinated and was litter trained. We couldn't wait to pick the little scraggy thing up. He's been so lovable ever since. Good luck with yours.
I got Tigger and Blue from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home when they were 2 years. They had loads of kittens there but they wouldn't let me have kittens as I work full-time and live on my own. Mind you when I got tem home they might as well have been kittens as they were so scared they hid under my bed for the first 2 weeks.
