A bit late with a reply. When I began divorce proceedings last year my solicitor said a divorce was approx £450 but failed to inform me of other costs. I ended up with a bill of £1,700! Im also now having to pay the conveyencing solicitor, not looking forward to that. Most solicitors charge £190 per hour CC.
Impossible to say , for a straight uncontested amicable divorce you can do it with out a solicitor. Solicitors charge £50 to £250 per letter they send and £250 minimum per hour.
If it is a contested and difficult divorce with a lot of property and finacial problems to sort out it can be in the £10,000s range.
A very simple divorce with agreement already reached by both sides does not even need a solictor

Can be as cheap as £45.
I think my DIY divorce cost about £60 (both parties in agreement)
