I helped my sis have a clear out last night so was driving to the dump this morning. Going round a sharp bend on little country roads my car suddenly swerved out of control. I managed to stop it before it launched me into a verge and a nice man stopped to check if I was ok. As we were chatting an RAC man drove by then came back and took a look at my car (I wasn't a member). Turns out the bolts hold the wheel part on had sheered off and the wheel was hanging on by a thread!

The lovely RAC man did a quick fix enough to get me home but ill need to get it in the garage this week to be properly fixed. Then my sis had to drive me to Leighton buzzard to pick up my dads car he is going to let me use but he'd put it in for the air con to be fixed this week so we had to try and get hold of the mechanic before he left at lunch.

So, due to the fact I was going round a bend and going very slowly when it happened and with all the lovely people that have helped me I definitely think someone is watching over me today.

And all before 11am. Hoof.

have you recently had a tyre changed or something because it sounds odd if all thbolts sheered at once, but you should also go and buy a scratch card cos your lucks in
Question Author
I had all the tyres changed a couple of months ago.

Good idea on the scratch card!
Well done for your guardian angel .....glad to hear you are ok E.B. x

and a nice man stopped to check if I was ok.

Was this man wearing a cape with 'Answerbank' emblazoned on it. Evian?

Oh and the RAC man knew my sister a tiny bit so he signed me up for membership (that was on my things to do list) and not only gave me 20% friends discount but also backdated it to yesterday just in case I had to stop when I drove it home.

How lucky am I! I don't like it when people say 'what if' normally but I'm so lucky it didn't happen on a busier road when I was going faster.

Not that I noticed Mick.
Yikes EB! Glad you are ok. What a fright that must have given you. xx
Our car was serviced a couple of weeks ago EB and the garage made a point of telling me to check the wheel nuts after 200 miles or so. Were you told the same?
I'm so glad you and your sister are both OK, Evian. Must have been quite frightening.

Nope, told nothing like that parkdale.

I was following my sister in her car. When she got to the dump and realised I wasn't behind her any more she said she almost had kittens.
