Windows XP Professional SP3
4 Answers
Morning ChuckFickens and everyone with similar knowledge. I have been a user of XP Prof since it was created and have always been satisfied and having tried Windows 7 on a colleagues pc, have no wish to change (even though I know Microsoft will be kicking it into touch) One thing I don't like is that Outlook Express is not available on 7 and I wish to remain with that mail program. So, after all that, my question is, where can I purchase a legal Windows XP Disc with Product Key enabling me to load at least 3 x PC's ?
Thanks in advance for any advice you may offer me.

Hi Telboy,
U nfortunately after April 8th 2014 Microsoft will no longer support XP. See http:// windows. micros... ws/ products/ lifecycle for full details.
XP will still work but will be exposed to any security threats people decide to create. And they will. It's sad but true.

You'd need to buy 3 copies, and I'll warn you that support for windowsXP will end in about 18months and after that there will be no more updates or security fixes for it from Microsoft.

^^ In addition to this, you might also like to investigate the Family Pack licence for Windows 7: http:// en.wiki pedia.o ...ns_. 28Famil y_Packs .29
And, for what it's worth, having done hundreds (maybe into the thousands by now) of client upgrades to Windows 7, I don't know a single user who doesn't think that Windows Live is better than Outlook Express in every way.

Thanks for advice which I appreciate. My problem is that I hate "Change" and having been with XP ans Outlook Express for more years than I care to remember, I find that at my age, change is very daunting. Should you read this I would like to know how long would you expect my XP to continue running smoothly for after 2014 before I have a problem beyond fixing myself? Again, thanks for advice
Hi Telboy,
Unfortunately after April 8th 2014 Microsoft will no longer support XP. See http:// windows .micros ...ws/p roducts /lifecy cle for full details.

Windows 7 (or 8) can still run a full copy of XP but inside a window using what Microsoft calls XP mode. I won't borrow you with details but it's fine just don't expect to play games or anything with it. Outlook express will be fine!
See here: http:// windows .micros ...-xp- mode-in -window s-7
The main problem is setting it up in the first place if you're not techy as you need to download a few files first and then install them. Ironically you need a valid copy of XP unless you buy Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate.
