Will opticians put new lenses in your existing frames, my frames were quite expensive so I would like to keep them if possible.

Gness, Boots in Brighton refused to put my new lenses in old frames last year for me. Got the hump now!
I haven't tried standing on mine to test them - the lens will pop out first....anyway, they are just reading glasses, the long vision is still intact..
Well it's been a long time since I had Boots do it, Ladybirder. I'm due a new pair when they sort my eyes out so if they refuse I shall go elsewhere. Too flipping pricey to keep having new frames.
Well I've got my current frames and the ones before that, both still in fashion, so I was really peed off when they said they don't do it. I never chose Boots as my opticians it was just that Dolland & Aitcheson got taken over by them and that's how I ended up there. D&A were great.
there's a lot to be said for the caring service from a local independent optician, rather than the chains.
I've just gone back to Boots because mine closed. I will get someone to use these frames though....if Boots now won't. Only a year old.
Agree Boxy..we seem to be running out of them here.

I got mine from Boots so I will have to see if they will. I have lots of pairs of glasses, had two pairs from Boots but had lots of the cheap readers, I have those in every room and vehicle just in case.

Just had a thought my "proper" glasses are the rimless type so that might make a difference.
Mine are rimless Carandrog, and Spec savers were dead funny about putting new lenses in (but obviously, as they are missing out on a sale!) but I insisted and they said they would charge me £50 to do it - with no guarantee - No thanks!
When having new specs in august local specsavers quoted for new specs and for re-glaziing an existing pair, new specs were cheaper.
My experience has been that there is hardly any monetary difference between complete new glasses and replacement lenses.
