I was stopped in the street by an old lady who told me that
my poppy was incorrectly pinned on my lapel!

She told me that the green leaf must point towards the heart.

I hadn't heard this before, is there any 'proper' way to wear your poppy?

I have not heard that before but can I just say you are very lucky to have a poppy with a leaf at all,as I have not seen any!
your greem leaf should be positioned at 11 oclock
vakayu,do you live in Scotland? Scottish poppies don't have leaves.
anyone else like me I buy one and get it pinned on but by the time I get home its vanished and I have to buy another, dont really mind as its for such a good cause.
I heard only yesterday that men should pin the poppy on their left lapel and women on their right. It's the first time I've heard that and don't even know if it's true. As for the leaf, I always take mine off. I don't like it. I usually get family or friends to send me Scottish ones as they have 4 petals but no leaf and are a darker red. Does it really all matter though? As long as we all buy them and wear them. That's what's important.
It doesn't make any difference as long as you wear one.
