Dark kindle?

My Kindle appears to be quite dark when I'm reading it. Is this normal? It's fine in the day, when I hardly ever use it, but at night I have to have the full light on - which kind of ruins the mood.
Is there a setting for the brightness, or is this just how they are?

Not sure if this was meant to be funny, but it made me laugh. You are right, of course, but I just assumed a kindle/e-reader was a replacement to the book, and could be used in situations where a paperback wouldn't be practical - like in a darkened room.

Once upon a time I really loved the idea of the Kindle, but my opinion has changed a little.
Firstly, because you cannot shop around for 2nd hand kindle books in the same way that you can with paperbacks, so reading books can be quite expensive.
Secondly, more of an ideological thing I suppose - but Amazon are one of those companies that you could argue are depriving the exchequer a lot of money by funneling taxable turnover elsewhere.
I do like the fact that a backlight is not required though- much easier on the eye than staring for ages at a computer screen or tablet.

Brinjal, yes great for that - although I've not long had it, so not really had the weather to enjoy it outside! :-)

It's not quite the same as cosying up on the sofa with an actual book, but I do like the fact I'll no longer need to keep buying bookshelves :) I do agree, though, they're not cheap. I desperately needed a specific cookery book, and it was £9.99, which I thought was a bit steep!
