the only way to tell for definite is to have a fertility test - it's simple, they just have to test the sperm - my partner did it because i wanted to get pregnant, but in order to do that i had to come off some medication, which had the potential of making me unwell, so for this reason the gp gave hima test - he just had to do it in a cup then take it to the local hospital - simple
If you dont think the gp would be sympathetic (after all the test will come out of his/her budget) then just tell him to say you have been trying to get pregnant without sucess and because of the mumps he'd like to check ... alternatively, offer to pay for it yourselves.
The only problem is, ignornace is bliss, and if you do the test, you have to be prepared for the results and think how you would feel if it showed he was infertile, and what impact that may have on him/your relationship, his libido, or his "manliness"
even if he is infertile, dosent mean its from that bout of mumps
What i am trying to say is, people can give you all the info about mumps you like, but at the end of it you'll stilll never know how it affected him for sure unless he has a test. I suppose it depends on how important it is for him to know
thanks for the response esp the link you posted wolfgang. his testicles were very sore and swollen so i guess theres only one way to find out. we dont have any plans for kids yet not for a good couple of years but it dont change anything between us, i love him children or no children.
im not sure if its worth getting tested yet or not , hes the kind of bloke who is realy open and easy to talk to so i guess we need to discuss things.
