Hiya

Im going to Brussels in May, Me and My boyfriend, Can any give us some tips on what to do. And any good bar's and restraunts to eat in.

You can't fail with the Grand Place, it is surrounded by good restaurants and bars. For sightseeing try the Mannequin Pis (the ******* boy statue), although it is a bit small and might disappoint. Can't think of anything else as each time I've been (on business) I barely had time to stop.

As delboy3 said, there are loads of restaurants around the Grand' Place. You should also wander along the Rue des Bouchers and the Petite Rue des Bouchers (very touristy but great for working up the appetite).

Not Mannequin Pis but Mannekin Pis. It is small, but it's interesting to watch the other tourists. Look for the P*i*s*i*n* Girl, too (very well hidden down a dead-end alley). Get yourselves a small guide book.

Off the Rue Neuve (big shopping street) is a road with a pub called Le Corbeau (The Raven). It's been a while but I wasted many hours of my youth there and would certainly recommend it to anyone... you must of course drink your Belgian Beer in a Chevalier - a glass like a mini yard of ale that comes with it's own stand and holds about a litre. I was about to say I remember drinking 5 of them in a night but that would be a lie...

I did have 5 I just can't remember it!

La Brouette on the Grand Place is a good place for a Belgian beer or five. Also on the Grand Place, try Le Cerf for dinner (not open Saturdays).

I've also enjoyed a visit to the cathedral and the Museum of Ancient and Modern Art but found Brussels a little sparse on the tourist attractions when compared to Prague, Amsterdam and Paris.

Three great restaurants just off rue des Bouchers : Vincent, where they have meat hanging in the front window, (looks like a butchers), and you enter through the kitchen. food is great, atmosphere is excellent, it's not dear and the waiters will happily take the mick in a good way. Across the alley is Scheltema, smarter but great for fish. On one corner is Aux Armes de Bruxelles. Excellent food and service. You probably need to book at all of them. Great bar is called Toone. It was formally a puppet theatre, is tiny and sells all the Belgian Trappist beers, (up to 13% so be warned). It's up a tiny alley just off the first left street down rue des Bouchers from Galleries St Hubert. Very easy to miss. Grande Place after dark is great for the light display. Art galleries are superb but it's not a hugely entertaining town.

Check out the "� la Mort Subite", but, as mentioned above, many Belgian beers are very strong. You have been warned!!
