What kind of message does this give out, not only to other potential mobile phone thieves, but more importantly, to the family of this poor policewoman? Neither of the two apologised for this woman's death.

170 iPhones are stolen across London every day Police said a total of 56,680 mobile phones were stolen in the capital in the six months between April and September this year — and half of those were iPhones.

Wouldn't a more stricter sentence have gone a long way to get the message over that this kind of crime will not be treated lightly?

This is not a left wing site. What utter tosh.

ABNews contributors come from the full spectrum of political opinion. And they seem to be fairly evenly distributed, and not overly skewed leftward or rightward.

I suppose if you are from the extreme right, then everyone elses views will appear leftleaning, even if that person holds moderate conservative views.
AOG

Just because people can argue articulately against your points, doesn't necessarily make them 'left wing'. It just means that they are good at supporting an argument and suggesting an alternative point of view.
I had genuinely not seen Gromit's answer before posting mine.

But he comes up with a good point AOG. Would you consider yourself an 'extreme right wing' person?

I ask because of that racist website link you sent me once - the one which you didn't realise was a BNP site.
the news section not blatantly full of left wing handwringers...yeah right course its not

"It just means that they are good at supporting an argument and suggesting an alternative point of view."

and with people like you that means twisting, distorting, obfuscating and coming up with the most ridiculous what if scenarios

My Sunday just keeps getting better

What like .....

not knowing if she had caught up with them she might be facing a death from stabbing.
Zacs - I haven't heard about the story until reading this thread.
"not knowing if she had caught up with them she might be facing a death from stabbing."

you mean like the two unfortunate WPc'sa few weeks ago that got murdered on duty going to what they thought was a "routine" call out

Good point...!
Baz,

Yes, there are plenty of left wingers. But there are also plenty of right wingers too. The result is a fairly even mix which is neither left or right biased.

Do you really believe it is a left wing site?
What does 'mainly' of 'a left-wing site' constitute, aog ? Am I one of the cohort of the left-wing? I haven't noticed any particularly left-wing posts nor the presence of any but a few who would be categorised by me as of the left, let alone left-wing. What do you identify as the particular characteristics of a person who is, in your view, 'left-wing' ?
AOG, I'm not 'left wing' - but I disagree with you - so how does that work?
many of you went right off the point about the woman police officer, i posted a link from our local paper because this happened in our borough, and i wonder if anyone as yet knows why she collapsed and died. Perhaps you didn't see the points made about the ambulance which took an age getting to her.
