12th birthday

It's my daughter's 12th birthday in a couple of weeks and she'll be having about 9 friends round to celebrate, what sort of activities can I lay on for them (that don't cost too much money, she's already getting a laptop so the birthdy budge is stretched to death), they'll have the Wii and music, what else do you think I could do?

Please don't do the 'pamper party 'thing she's 12!!! What on earth can they do when they're teenagers!!?? The cupcake thing sounds great. I'm sure they will have great fun. You also have to think that maybe not all the parents will appreciate their children being 'made up'!

Kathy not many kids are into the sort of stuff you might imagine 12 year olds are, they grow up awfully quickly. A pamper party and mocktails sounds just about right to me.

Make it a sleepover. They get remembered forever. They don't cost much but they're labour intensive. :)

A treasure hunt. Hide a few £1 coins about the house (with clues) and when all have been found tell them there's a fiver hidden in the garden (or somewhere else) You'll get peace for a while. The fiver doesn't exist of course.

Mojo, I'm not that brave, I'm still have nightmares about the last time I let her have a few friends to stay. Fortunately daughter has to get up early at the weekends to do her rollerskating. ;)

It seems I hit a bit of a note with this. In my humble opinion adults are far too quick to encourage their kids to grow up. I'm afraid I think 12 year olds wearing make up and having 'pretend' alcoholic drinks is doing just this. Hey, get some pretend fags in at the same time!! I just don't understand why adults want to do this.
