in the 60's there wasnt that much central heating unless you were rich,i was one of them,I REMEMBER=patterns on the inside of the windows made by jack frost,not getting any water out of the taps as the tank had frozen,not being able to flush the toilets,we didnt have a fridge but didnt need it.what are your memories?????

winter of 63 and the massive pile up of snow, the drifts going the 3 miles or so to school, over 8 feet high either side of the road (near Lancaster).
It was the last time Lake Windermere froze over and there were cars out on the ice. Some plonker parked his car and left the engine running whilst the family went skating -and guess what, it melted the ice under the car and lo and behold it disappeared into over a 120 feet of water.

I remember the winter of 63. We had to trudge to school in it .None of this two flakes of snow and everything shuts down malarkey they have now .
We lived in Kent then and my Dad and eldest brother worked in the dockyard The Medway was fozen solid and they had to get the icebreaker boats to churn it up .The snow was piled up on the sides of the roads .
