I have always suffered from head aches. They come everyother day and when I get them they are hard to shift. I sometime wake up with them, and even wake up with head aches from the day before. Have been to the opticians and have been advised that I have 20:20 vision. Dr's dont say much, I dont drink orange juice or much cheese. They only thing that surpresses the sometimes totally unbearable pain is jumping in a shower and showering my neck and head. This makes me think that it could be muscular? Any ideas??

i had this problem about a month ago, i went to the docs and she said it was because i was stressed and very tense in my shoulders. she told me to take a break, for about an hour a day and relax and i found this helped alot - i have also adjusted my seat at my desk which was causing me to hunch up my shoulders and now i very rarely get headaches

I had been getting very bad headaches too, and it turned out to be a combination of teeth grinding in my sleep and blocked sinuses, try getting both of these checked out.

If it is muscular it could be a sign of either stress/tension or bad posture

yes, sounds as if osteopaths or chiropractors might be able to help if it's something posture-related. The problem may well be in the neck or shoulders, which they can often do something about; tension is a possibility, as is RSI. Might even be something a dentist could advise on. It does sound as if it's something structural, or you wouldn't have them so often.

Hi spaced

My mum used to suffer with really bad migranes. She would have a least one a week and they could last for days. She had an allergy test done and found out that she was mildly intolerant (don't think that's how it's spelt but nevermind :) ) to wheat, bread in particular. She cut it out of her diet for about 6 months and the migranes all but stopped (apart from stress related!). After 6 months she gradually re-introduced some breads but she doesn't eat as much as she did and her migranes are nearly non-existant now.

Just a suggestion - perhaps ask you're doctor for an allergy test. Hope this helps

thanks guys! thanks for the excellent responses

Hi,

just a thought, for years I had been having headache and I spent my time going from the doctor to the optician. The doctor told me to get my eyes checked and the optician told me to go to the doctors. Things got so desperate that my doctor sent me to see a neurologist. Well after this performance for a year or so I went to a fourth optician and was given a diagnosis of a muscle imbalance in my eyes and in fact I did need glasses. The strain of trying to correct my vision was in fact the cause of my headaches. Since i have been wearing glasses my headaches are nearly non existent.

If you have been to the same optician a few times, it maybe worth trying a different one, to get a different point of view. The first couple of opticians never did the test to check for a muscle imbalance. Good luck

try going to the physio - it could be referred pain from your neck.

In the meantime- icepacks on the back of the neck will help
