Pig houses

I often drive past fields full of pigs which are full of pig-arks, or pig-arcs - those metal semi-tubular pig houses for them to sleep in. My question is, do the pigs have their 'own' houses or do they just sleep in the nearest one?

This trait is even displayed during the early suckling order of piglets. The dominate individual in a herd of swine chooses the "best" place at the feeding trough as well as the mud hole and shade areas, including the pig huts. Lesser individuals challenge this hierarchy at their own peril. A neigboring friend chose to raise pigs as a youngster in a 4-H project here in the western U.S., and while most of the rest of us thought ourselves superior with horses, dairy or beef cattle and a few sheep, by far the most interesting behaviorial animals to observe, were his sow and 11 piglets...
