De Humidifier Water

Just got a dehumidifier and I am amazed by the amount of water it is getting.As it is one of the ones that throws out negative ions with its fan,I was wondering if this means the water that collects in the de humidifier is de ionised water?
I have seen a few things about normal dehumidifiers,but was wondering is it was safe to use in car batteries and things that like the de ionised water?
Any other ideas for the water?

I wouldn't put it in a car battery. I water plants with mine.

I must be the owner of the oldest iron that is still working!Needless to say I don't have a steam iron,just one very old(and rarely used) normal iron.
That gave me an idea though-maybe my food steamer?

Doesn't matter that it's generating negative ions - the water that a de-humidifier produces is simply condensed out of the air and doesn't contain any dissolved solids. So, yes, it can be used where de-ionised water is specified.

As ginge said... although the water will technically be distilled water, not deionized water, but the end result is essentially the same in both processes.

Well, unless you're using your dehumidifier in a sealed room, all you're doing is trying to dehumidify the entire world and will continue to collect water in it. Uses for the water? Tip it down the drain, there'll be plenty more where that came from.

Well not a sealed room exactly,just a well shut up one,the doors are snug(when certain family members remember to shut them anyway)
I just didn't want to damage stuff and got conflicting views on the rest of the web,ie one said water the plants,one said it does great to kill weeds so don't water the plants,so you see why I was asking on here.

Water for car batteries must NOT have touched any metal..If it collects in a plastic container it would be all right,but if it's a METAL one,No no no!

I've not had a car battery that COULD be topped up - for at least the last fifteen years!

Don't water plants with it! I did and my plants died. Don't understand why though
