My black jacket stains my skin and other clothes when I wear it. How can I stop the colour running?

In my view not only is the jacket faulty but you probably have a case against them for any clothes it has spoiled.

If the jacket is washable then repeated washing (using salt as a fixative in the last rinse) should solve the problem BUT you may then be left with a grey jacket instead of black.
A color fixer is called a mordant. The Celts used to use stale urine or you could try ammonia; see http://www47.pair.com/lindo/Dyes.htm
I have a pair of black-dyed suede shoes that stain my feet or socks, but only when the shoes get wet from the rain. Is that the case with your jacket? If so, then my advice is to not wear the jacket anywhere that it might get wet, especially not in the rain. It's a shame, but you might have to buy a second jacket for use in inclement weather.
