It's probably coming from the sump plug sqad, maybe hasn't been tightened up enough or the mechanic didn't use a new sump plug washer after changing the oil.
No, you shouldn't have any oil spots on the floor, unless they made a codsup on changing the filter and spilt some of the oil. Take it back and have a moan. Tell 'em you want your floor cleaned!!!
please excuse my ignorance but was this a new car, (first 1000ml service)
The reason i ask is i got a new car on oct' and my dad got one several months earlier and we were both told to follow the instuction's in the sevice book's which are both 1 year or 20,000mls for the first service,my car in a vauxhall,my dad's is a renault, does it just depend on the manufacturer?
The garage should Clean, & check the car before the car leaves the area of oil change to make sure all is well & no oil loss, they should also have cleaned the oil filter area with a rag as that's the area where, depending on the type of filter, you get oil splashes.
You could just get under the front of the car and wipe your finger around the oil drain plug. Any sign of oil on your finger would mean it should be returned.
