Don't you just cringe when some people call you things like Buddy and Matey? I know they're terms of endearment and there are plenty of worse things to be called, but oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh nooooooo!

We have a newish female employee-upstairs-who refers to each of us -downstairs-as 'sweetheart' or other terms of endearment. Probably because she can't remember our names. I just want to smack her sometimes.

My soon to be Brother-in-Law calls me 'bro', which although meant in the same way as 'mate' could actually be seen as being an accurate abbreviation... then again, he's Australian so generally has a poor grasp of the English language anyway ;-p

I really object when people (especially female shop assistants) call me darling or sweetheart. I'm not. I have been known to comment :-)
