took me over 30 mins and numerous reboots to get online today eventually in safe mode- got no error messages at all at any time - not even a "this page cannot be displayed"

also kept freezing when i tried to check connections tab in internet options and not on any other tab

not aware of any virus /spyware

Are you using dial up or broadband?

Have you installed any software or hardware recently?

If you have a system restore point created recently, try rolling back to see if that allows you to connect successfully.
