Additionally, doctors carry some drugs with them. I remember being given painkillers by a doctor on Boxing Day, when most chemists would have been shut. I was told that, under no circumstances, should I exceed the stated dose as two tablets instead of one would almost certainly be fatal. I don't know what they were (a strong morphine formulation, perhaps) but I do remember that it took only a few seconds for my whole body to go totally numb, so that you could have stuck a hat pin into me without me even noticing!
