The symptons you describe do suggest it will clear with time but you may find that the correct use of ear drops may quicken the recovery, but be advised it can take anything from a day or two to a full month before your ear back to normal.
I am deaf and you have my full sympathy my friend, but let me repeat myself ............ do not stick anything in your ear and this includes cotton wool!
Hope it clears soon.
thanks everyone for your answers. I went to the doctors in the end, as I know what untreated infections can do.(My step mum is completely deaf - now with two cochlea implants - and it all started with a sore ear).
Anyway, my ear is not infected, but my eusta - me - bob - tubes are blocked. She suggested steam inhalation to help clear them, and I may try happy_face's recommendation.
Don't worry, PhilBy, I was always told never to stick anything in my ear smaller than my elbow!!
