HI - i hope someone can help me on this!

I have recently written off my new car - which has a cherished numberplate, can I sell this without re registering a new one, as it's being written off?

If i can how would i arrange this with the dvla etc? I couldn't find any advice for this on their website!

Thanks, Ren

i had this problem when my car was written off, apply to have the number put on retention as soon as possible.but you will need to get a letter from your insurance company as to their permission for you to do this,it will take a little longer then normal but it will get done for you by the dvla.
further to the above, you wont be able to sell the plate until it is on retention.
