I had a blood test done last week and the surgery has called me back to do another one as they couldn't use the last one I ask the receptionist why it couldn't be used but she said it didn't say why...any ideas what the reason could be?
Lots of possible reasons; the sample could have been lost, mislabelled, or not labelled at all, inadequate in volume, or haemolysed (red cells broken down) to mention a few.
Did they want a Fasting test? i.e one where you don't eat or drink anything for 12 hours before you actually give the sample as eating can often give false sugar level readings etc. Any way don't worry about it, it happens all the time for loads of different reasons none of which are cause for worry.
No not a fasting test paddywak it's my regular thyroid blood test not overly worried only that I hate giving blood as they can never find veins in my arms so if I can get away with just the once every so often the better
