Locusts, The New Testament is full of politics and propaganda. Outside the gospels, there is no record that the custom described of releasing a prisoner of the people’s choice even existed. The story was written long after the event with the intention of demonising the Jews – and it worked because people like you believe it. Jesus was a troublemaker – but his triumphal entry into Jerusalem just prior to his arrest and execution would indicate that he was popular with the people – the very people that a few days later allegedly condemned him to death. It makes no sense and it makes no sense because the truth is the priests conspired with the Romans, who in times of enormous political instability, saw Jesus as an insurgent - and that’s why they put him to death. I say again, you believe lies.
(By the way, Pilate allegedly washed his hands, not Caesar – although since there are no eye-witness accounts of the trial or of anything else, that can’t be confirmed either).
