An enjoyable puzzle but I can't see the word play for 3D. I have all the checked letters and there are only two possible letters with which (I think) it can begin. A hint (without giving the game away entirely if poss.) would be very much appreciated.

I have everything completed except the four who might justly sing the song but the only link seems to be the "heart" of these words - I can get words but not names. Am I missing a PDM ?

I also got 3D only after a process of elimination, but I still can't for the life of me parse the clue. The first two letters are the 'bill', I presume, the third letter 'runs', but how does the rest go with 'second'? I was mighty happy to get this Dumpynose finally solved, by the way; unlike some of you ABers, I found many of the clues very hard to crack.

Yes, of course. Thanks Shaney. When you're (sort of) sure that it's 'PO' that equates with 'bill', it blinds you to other possibilities. I suppose the lesson is to always keep an open mind and keep trying all possibilities. Nil desperandum!
