Front Garden Smokers!
34 Answers
I live on a main road and have have noticed that a lot of smokers now stand outside their front door to ''ave a fag', I presume they have kids or don't want to pollute their homes ( why don't they just quit??) but why do they stand in their front garden and not the back?? You'd think they'd want a bit of privacy??!!

Why don't people just quit ? I am 60 in a few weeks time, and I gave up smoking in my late 20's. I had smoked since I was 15, like most working class boys did in the 1960's. But it was obvious that if I didn't quit my 20 a day habit, that I would be buying 3 packs of cigarettes a day when I was older. This would now cost upwards of £18-£20 a day.
Now we have all sorts of help available to smokers who want to quit...patches, chewing gum, etc, and it all on the NHS ! And yet here in Wales, there are approx. 24% of adults who still smoke. I would understand if most of those people were uneducated but there are still a lot of people smoking, from well educated backgrounds, as well as disadvantaged people.
When I gave up all those years ago, fags cost about 32p a back.....now they are over £6 ! How can poorer people afford to smoke ? A couple who both smoke could be paying a minimum of £84 a week on cigarettes. That is more than the job seekers allowance !
