beckersjay #And if I am an Answerbank atheist (which I am not...)I believe it as vehemently as most believers do in their religions and spiritual beliefs.... #
I don't believe pigs fly #vehemently# or otherwise .
I don't believe pigs fly because my experience of this world produces no evidence that they do. I don't have a holy book or belong to an Apigism
belief. If however if a pigist knocks on my door or writes about pigism in
in AB I will challenge them to prove it and point out what I think is nonsense in their claim. However if they are able to demonstrate in a practical way, which is repeatable , that pigs do fly I am quite prepared to believe them. In fact I would welcome the fact because my eyes are open to new knowledge.

Naomi24: Beckersjay, //it's a pity we don't see more people following their example on this topic of Answerbank.//
If that’s your experience, I agree, It’s not nice to be told continually that you’re immoral, blind, and doomed for eternity.
For once I agree with you, except that I've never been told this by any of the JWs I've met.
Modeller: My old granny used to say ' if you can't think of anythying nice or polite to say, don't say anything at all' so I'll just say 'have a good weekend'.

When JWs call on me I always say I'll discuss anything with you on one condition 'You don't quote from the bible ' or from literature which is copied from the bible. That leaves them tonque tied.
I point out to them they can't use the bible to prove the bible, which is in any case written by man.
It's quite amusing sometimes to see them open it, hesitate and put it away again.

Naomi24:'Of course you haven’t. As a believer, you’re already halfway there and therefore you're an easier target for them. They reserve the prophecies of doom for the hopeless cases.'
Actually, you know very little about my beliefs, but I can assure you they have very little in common with those of a JW.

Ratter You are right to think so if you have not experienced something yourself.
I have related some of my experiences in other posts but let tell you what happened to me dozens of times as a child and as an adult.
In all families we lose relatives or they are taken ill hundreds of miles away and we dont know what has happened until in the past we got a telegram.
However my mother knew what had happened packed a bag and was on the train hours before we received it. Sometimes my father and I would come home and there would be a note from my mother saying she had gone to whoever was ill or had died or her sister had given birth etc.
An hour later we would get a telegram saying " We expect you already know but so and so had happened " This was normal in our family my mother had this ' second sight ' call it what you will. We all accepted it as normal. On one occasion she knew I was in hospital in Egypt and wrote to me asking why I hadn't told her. For 60 odd years I lived with it as a normal part of life.
Maybe Ratter you have a better explanation than # a vivid imagination. #
