Peeling Nails
I was googling a remedy for peeling fingernails (when they peel away in layers) and one website said that this can be caused by vitamin A deficiency. Is there any scientific basis to that or is it just something a non-qualified beauty person has made up?

SJ......... In a lifetime of medicine I have never seen or heard of a case of Vitamin A deficiency in the Western World. It can be caused by malnutrition which would be more obvious to the observer than "peeling nails." So.......... ..your non- qualified beauty person...... ......is making it up.

If it's got anything to do with vitamins (which I doubt), B7 might be more relevant:

It's far more likely to be environmental, such as the use of detergents or nail polish.
