Have a printer which operates, according to the literature, with Windows7; no mention of Windows 8. I can't get it to work with the Windows 8 computer. Is it simply that they are not compatible? If they are compatible, I'll indulge in trouble -shooting.

Windows 8 is essentially Windows 7 with the colored tile interface laid on top (plus a few other changes) so I would have thought a printer would still work.

Have a look on the company web site (who make the printer) and look under "support" and search for the printer and see if they mention Windows 8, or if they have brought out a new driver or software package for Windows 8.

They may even have a section on what printers will work with Windows 8 so hunt round the web site.

A search in the internet for "Windows 8" and the printer name may also find some other "hits" as you may not be the first person to try to get it to work.
What make / model number is the printer?
Enter your printer model in the search field here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/Home?Language=en-US
That will tell you whether it's compatible with Windows 8. (If you need to go to the manufacturer's website to download a new driver, there will be a link there to save you hunting for it elsewhere).
