For the first time this year I spent Sunday afternoon in the shed. It was really relaxing and the day was long. I potted plants, chitted the seed potatoes, tidied the paint pot shelf, sorted my seed tin and pondered a while.
Mr Maydup was watching the footie and I had the shed to myself. Bliss!
Is your shed a girl shed, a man shed or a bit of both?
I have a workshop and a large shed, the workshop is mine but Carakeel may go in there to get the dog food from the freezer, the shed is quite large, we keep pots of paint etc and a million empty boxes in there ready for when we move, we share that, well we could if we could get past the boxes, the garage is also just storage, packed stuff ready for the big move.
Does anyone else have a 'Summerhouse?'. I see myself sitting in there like Lady Muck with a Pimms, admiring the garden, whilst all about are doing everything that needs doing.
Well we have a shed, which I suppose you could say is my hubbys. We have a brick built out house that I have a fridge-freezer in, some old kitchen cabinets where we store 'stuff'! I've got laundry and animal baskets in there, a plastic garden furniture table folded down leaning against the wall. Then there' a greenhouse attached to the back of it which we both use. I grow herbs, chilis and garlic in a special clay pot, then we grow grapes and tomatoes and some seeds are germinated for border plants we give away or swap excess.
We have a large summerhouse in our "wild garden" up the road, we sit in there in the pouring rain, its lovely, we have a paraffin heater and storm lanterns for lighting, we keep the chicken food in there and we also have a bit cordoned off so we can isolate a few chickens should we need to, we share the summer house equally, we love it, our little haven away from home to share with the dogs and chickens.
We live in a flat and have no garden unfortunately. Boo hoo.
I do have a shed in our daughter's garden about quarter of a mile away which holds all my tools, so whenever I have a job on I have to drive round there to get them.
We have a mixture of all of these things. We have a shed in which we have a freezer, potting and gardening stuff for me, storage on shelves and overhead. Workshop bench for him and wood and tools and machinery.
Next to it is the summerhouse which also doubles up as storage. But it is lovely as Ratter says, for sitting inside when the rain comes down. I sit in there less than I expected too as its a bit cold in the winter and too hot in the summer but its always there when one of us wants to listen to the radio or do some crafting. We've even put relatives in there when we've run out of bedrooms! I love it most at this time of year when spring is just around the corner and the shed has plenty of activity in store.
When I first read your post Maydup I thought I couldn't do that because of the spiders. We have a garage full of interesting stuff but can't venture in there because of them, OH has even given a couple names.
